02Our Production Process

Metallic ink production is a precision process. Pigment particle size, binder system, and viscosity balance determine final brilliance and coverage. Each batch in our EVAcolor production line is digitally controlled using L-A-B values.

The EVAcolor Gold series is produced in PANTONE 873, 874, 875, and 876 reference shades, each offering different warmth and brilliance levels.

03Applications

Packaging (food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals), labels and stickers, invitations and specialty prints, corporate identity materials, book and magazine covers.

04Printing Tips

When working with metallic inks, film thickness directly affects brilliance. Coated papers provide the best metallic effect. Dispersion varnish application is important for surface protection and enhanced gloss.

Frequently Asked Questions

What pigments are used in metallic ink production?
Bronze or brass-alloy aluminum pigments are used for gold tones; pure aluminum pigments for silver. SCHLENK metallic pigments with their lamellar structure provide maximum brilliance and opacity. Pigment particle size directly affects gloss and flow properties.
Which printing systems are EVAcolor metallic inks compatible with?
EVAcolor Gold and Silver series are compatible with conventional offset, UV offset, and hybrid UV offset systems. Special UV-cure metallic formulations are required for UV systems. SIM provides technical support for both systems.
How does metallic ink film thickness affect brilliance?
As metallic ink film thickness increases, opacity and brilliance rise, but excessive thickness can lead to drying problems and bleeding. A film thickness of 1.5-2 µm on glossy coated paper gives optimal results. UV varnish application significantly enhances brilliance.

Sustainable Printing: Eco-Friendly Ink and Material Options for 2026

Sustainable printing is the fastest-growing trend in the industry in 2026 — the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), the European Green Deal, and Turkey's Zero Waste policies are forcing print suppliers to adopt eco-friendly inks and materials. Vegetable-oil-based inks, low-VOC UV formulations, low-migration UV (LM-UV), water-based dispersion varnishes, and deinking-conformant inks form the backbone of this transformation. Drawing on SIM Baskı Malzemeleri's 40+ years of supplying Turkey's printing industry, this guide covers the technical specs, measurable environmental gains, regulatory compliance, and cost impact of sustainable printing materials.

Packaging Printing: Ink Selection by Package Type — A Comprehensive Guide

Packaging printing is the largest segment of the printing industry by both volume and value — the global market exceeded USD 480 billion in 2026. Correct packaging ink selection is not only a color quality decision but a technical one: regulatory compliance (food, pharma), mechanical durability (rub, light), chemical resistance, and sustainability must all be satisfied simultaneously. Drawing on SIM Baskı Malzemeleri's 40+ years supplying Turkey's printing industry, this guide covers ink selection criteria for food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, industrial, and premium packaging segments — with measurable test standards and regulatory references.
